Beth and Brandon were after something a little different for their engagement session—something with edge, mood, and a studio vibe. We first met at one of my monthly Open Studio days (aka: come hang out, get a killer headshot). For their session, we mixed clean studio lighting with a more laid-back, romantic feel by stepping outside and letting the scenery do its thing. We played with a bold color palette—blues with hits of red—for a look that felt modern but still true to them. And of course, we wrapped it all with some sweet, natural portraits right here on my property.
Beth had this cool, quiet confidence that stuck with me—and when she reached out about engagement photos, I already had a vision.
We started in the studio setup with soft backdrop tones and bold style choices—Beth’s red belt and lipstick played perfectly off the blue scene. Brandon rocked a 70s-adjacent vibe with ease (someone give this man a vinyl deal). But we didn’t stop there. Once we got what we wanted inside, we brought it all out into the wild. My property gave us just the right mix of overgrown and romantic to balance out the shoot.
The session felt like a blend of their style and story—structured but soft, edgy but personal. We played with light, movement, and mood. And somewhere between the studio shots and the sun slipping through the trees, it all just clicked.
These two aren’t interested in cookie-cutter love stories—and neither am I.
