When Nicola and Noah mentioned wanting engagement photos that told their story of loving the outdoors, I instantly thought of Congaree National Park. They live in Columbia, so I knew this park was easy to access and I was instantly excited at the idea. There’s just something about that place—the towering trees, the peaceful trails, the sense that you’ve stepped into another world. It’s the kind of spot that makes you want to slow down and take it all in, which is exactly what we did.
Over their nearly 7 years of dating they have traveled parts of America and Europe, spent a lot of time hiking in nature, have eaten some amazing food, and have had so many fun and spontaneous adventures together.
“We are both always up for a fun time and are happy as long as we are together; this is what makes our life so special.” – Nicola
We started the session wandering along the park’s boardwalk trail. Nicola and Noah were completely in their element, chatting, laughing, and soaking up the quiet beauty around them. Sunlight streamed through the trees, turning everything golden and soft. They were so natural together, like the forest itself had been waiting for this moment to showcase their love.
After some exploring, we found the perfect shady spot for a picnic. They’d packed a little spread—simple, cozy, and so them. Watching them sit there, sharing snacks and sneaking sweet glances at each other, felt less like a photoshoot and more like capturing a slice of their real life.
And then came the football. This wasn’t your usual engagement session activity, but that’s what made it so perfect. Under the wide branches of an ancient oak, they tossed the ball back and forth, laughing the whole time. It was playful, unscripted, and one of those moments you can’t help but smile at while snapping away.
By the end of the session, it felt like the park itself had wrapped them in its magic. Congaree’s timeless beauty mixed with Nicola and Noah’s easygoing vibe made for something really special. Their love isn’t flashy or overdone—it’s rooted, natural, and so full of joy.
It’s days like this that remind me why I love what I do. Congaree gave us the perfect stage, but it was Nicola and Noah who brought the heart. Here’s to many more adventures ahead for these two—and maybe a little more football under the trees.
